Scissor Lift Budgeting: Machine Price vs Installed Bay Cost

Budget for the complete service bay by separating equipment, site works, connections, handling and handover. For repair-shop buyers comparing 6016 and 6105B, equal lifting capacities do not mean equal installation scope or cost.

Key takeaways

• Compare a complete installed service bay, not two machine-price lines.
• Equal 3,500 kg lift ratings do not make surface-mounted and recessed installation scopes equal.
• Mark each required item as included, separately priced, buyer-supplied or unresolved.
• Avoid both missing costs and counting the same work twice.

1. Define the same usable result before comparing prices

Begin with the vehicles, approved lifting points and intended service tasks. A price comparison is useful only when both proposed packages can deliver the required work with their agreed accessories and installation. A cheaper configuration that cannot support the intended vehicles is not an equivalent offer.

6016 and 6105B are both listed as 3,500 kg full-rise double-scissor lifts for compatible wheel-free service. The 6016 is surface-mounted with hinged platform ends; 6105B is recessed, with single-side platform extension as standard and double-side extension as an option. Those are substantive configuration differences, even before any price is attached.

Write the acceptance result into the enquiry: the selected lift and accessories, installed at the named bay, with the agreed commissioning and handover scope. Keep optional future upgrades separate from what is required for the initial task.

2. Separate equipment supply from floor preparation

For 6016, the floor, anchoring and hose routing must follow its surface-mount drawing. Surface-mounted does not mean that every existing slab is suitable or that no site preparation will be needed. Have the actual floor reviewed before entering zero against that budget line.

6105B requires a model-specific recessed arrangement. The scope can therefore include designing and preparing the recesses, coordinating services and finishing the surrounding floor as required by the approved design. If water-management provisions are needed, have their design and responsibility established too.

These are different work packages. The current records do not establish their local prices or prove which model has the lower installed cost. Exact platform dimensions, lifting heights and other configuration details must come from the selected documents before contractors can price the work reliably. Do not borrow foundation values or pit dimensions from another lift.

3. Put service connections and optional equipment on named lines

Both records list separate control cabinets, wired pendants, 24 V controls and 220 V or 380 V supply choices. Those equipment entries do not settle who provides the site electrical connection, service routing or final connection work. Confirm the exact electrical version and have the qualified provider price its scope.

For 6105B, do not compare a single-side-extension price against another offer assumed to include double-side extension. State the selected arrangement explicitly. For both models, identify the support pads or adapters required for the agreed vehicles and whether they are included.

The same rule applies to installation materials and consumables: record what the supplier provides and what the installer must obtain under the applicable instructions. Do not convert a photograph into an included-parts list.

4. Delivery, unloading and installation are separate milestones

A delivered machine is not necessarily unloaded into its final position or installed. Identify the named delivery point, who arranges unloading, how packages reach the bay and which party assembles and installs the equipment. Applicable freight, clearance and destination charges also need an explicit quotation basis.

BendPak’s own support FAQ states that its product price excludes installation and explains that installer quotations depend on multiple factors. This is an example of why buyers must read supply boundaries; it is not an EHRLE delivery or installation term. The EHRLE order must state its own agreed scope.

Use the actual packing and handling information when arranging unloading. Neither a catalogue lift rating nor an illustration establishes the lifting equipment needed to handle the delivered packages.

5. Build a cost register that exposes omissions and duplicates

Use one row per required item, with these fields: item description; specification or drawing reference; responsible party; scope status; quotation reference; amount and currency; tax basis; and unresolved assumptions.

Suggested scope statuses are included, separately priced, buyer-supplied and unresolved. Unresolved is not the same as free. If an installer includes anchors or commissioning in a package, identify that inclusion instead of adding the same item again as a separate purchase.

For the initial cash budget, total the agreed equipment package and all required additional items not already included. Align currency, quotation date and tax treatment before comparing totals. Keep any provisional allowance clearly labelled and replace it with a site-specific quotation when available. No price, percentage allowance or exchange rate is proposed in this guide.

6. Keep installation timing and handover visible beside the budget

Cost completeness does not guarantee that the bay will be available when needed. Coordinate delivery, floor works where required, electrical readiness, installation and the agreed commissioning sequence with the responsible providers. Do not infer a completion date from a machine delivery estimate alone.

For a hypothetical workshop comparing a 6016 retrofit with a 6105B recessed bay, ask each provider to identify prerequisites and when the work area can be released for the next activity. This is a planning comparison, not a claim that either installation takes a fixed number of days.

List operator instruction, applicable records and any agreed inspection or acceptance activity explicitly. Treat estimated business interruption separately from the equipment-and-installation cash total so the comparison does not hide it or count it twice.

Your quotation comparison checklist

Before selecting an offer, confirm:
1. Same intended vehicles, service task and acceptance result.
2. Exact lift version and itemized standard/optional accessories.
3. Site assessment and the selected floor or recess design.
4. Electrical/service connections, delivery and unloading responsibilities.
5. Installation, commissioning and handover inclusions.
6. Comparable currency/tax basis, open assumptions and prerequisite dates.

Send EHRLE the proposed 6016 or 6105B configuration, vehicle list, site plan, destination and required supply boundary. Ask for equipment inclusions clearly separated from work to be quoted by the local qualified providers. Select from complete, comparable scopes rather than assuming the lowest machine price is the lowest installed bay cost.

Frequently asked questions

Is a surface-mounted 6016 always cheaper to install than a recessed 6105B?
The current product records cannot establish that. Existing floor conditions, the required configuration and local work quotations determine the comparison.

Does a 3,500 kg rating mean the two quotations cover the same equipment?
No. The models have different installation and platform arrangements. Confirm the vehicle fit and exact accessory scope as well as capacity.

Should an excluded item be entered as zero in the budget?
Only if it is genuinely not required or has no additional cost under the agreed scope. Otherwise obtain a separate price or label it unresolved.

Is double-side extension included as standard on 6105B?
No. Single-side extension is standard in the current record; double-side extension is an option to identify explicitly in the order.
